Akanwu is a thickener used for making Nigerian delicacies such as Isi-ewu, Nkwobi and Ugba. It is used to thicken the Palm Oil to form a homogeneous puree for eating various foods. It is also used as a tenderizer for Ukwa (breadfruit seeds)
